A NEW ERA OF COLLABORATION: BUILDING A SHARED FUTURE BETWEEN PAKISTAN AND AFRICA
We stand at the dawn of a transformative era in global partnerships, one defined not by old dependencies but by new synergies, mutual respect, and shared aspirations. It is with immense pride and a profound sense of responsibility that I introduce the Pakistan Africa Economic Council (PAEC)—the first and only organization of its kind, legally mandated and established as a non-profit public limited company to serve as the premier platform for comprehensive cooperation between Pakistan and the African continent.
The 21st century has redefined connectivity, presenting emerging economies with an unprecedented opportunity to write their own destinies. In this new global landscape, the partnership between Pakistan and Africa, representing a combined population of over 1.8 billion people, is not just an option; it is a strategic imperative. PAEC emerges as the critical nexus where Pakistan’s robust capabilities in manufacturing, agriculture, technology, and human capital converge with Africa’s dynamic growth, abundant resources, and vast consumer markets.
Our mission is clear and compelling: to catalyze sustainable development and mutual prosperity. We are committed to:
- Expanding bilateral trade to a target of $15 billion by 2030.
- Facilitating $2 billion in Pakistani investment across African markets by 2028.
- Empowering 50,000 individuals annually through educational and technological exchanges.
- Creating sustainable employment for over 100,000 people through joint ventures and partnerships.
But PAEC’s vision extends far beyond commerce. We are a multidimensional catalyst for cooperation, designed to foster institutional collaboration, drive technology transfer, strengthen diplomatic ties, and build lasting people-to-people connections. Our approach is rooted in a paradigm shift—from transactional engagements to a genuine partnership built on the solid foundations of our shared Islamic heritage, post-colonial solidarity, and common development challenges.
This initiative is perfectly aligned with Pakistan’s “Look Africa” policy and the continent’s own integration agenda under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
